Two Detentions Following Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
The assault caused the temporary closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals were injured by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in the Lambeth area for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both are still being held, authorities confirmed.

These detentions follow an investigation into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Officers arrested a man in his thirties on suspicion of robbery and assault close to the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people hurt by a noxious substance believed to be an irritant spray.

The assault - which police said was isolated and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a short time.
